Sonya's Chicken's

Here are some of the images from the book I wrote & illustrated this semester at RISD in my Picture & Word class, called Sonya's Chickens. A book about a young girl who is given three young chicks to care for, and her journey as she learns about the joys and sorrows that caring for other creatures brings.

“Shhh.” Said Sonya’s papa.
“What seems unfair to you, might make sense to a fox.”
And he told her a story.

When can I purchase a copy from you? I love the entire idea of this book, so cute too.

More precious and endearing than words can say. Be well Phoebe, and may all your kind and tender dreams come true!

The pictures of Sonya and her dad are lovely, and the ones of her doing chores around the yard are just brilliant, you have totally captured how small children become engrossed in what they are doing, I don't know if you have heard of Eileen Soper or Shirley Hughes, they are both English illustrators that seemed to specialise in drawing children remarkably well, and again it was in their sketches that the children really sprang to life. If you ever get the chance to see any of Eileen Soper's wildlife drawing I think you would really like it. Will you be publishing Sonya's Chickens? It looks lovely and I have fallen in love with her papa!

Might make sense to a fox. Perfect. I try to keep this perspective as I go about my business here on my farm. I can't wait to see more of this story.

dear Pheobe,

I found your work through soulemama and am thrilled by it. it reminds me of eraly nineteenfifty-children-books, about swedish illustrators like Elsa Beskow, Lena Anderson and Ilon Wikland and about my own little-girl-dreams.
is this beautiful book somewhere to order and buy worldwide?

greetings from Morocco, itto
